Out of 100 dramas that SBS has aired, they discovered that the ocean, the hospital, and the airport were the top 3 places for the ending scene in a drama. Of course, all you avid drama watchers probably noticed that already, but it makes one feel smart to have it confirmed.
Coming in at 3rd place with 21% was an ocean scene in which the girl and the guy hug each other and reach a happy ending. And although Boys Over Flowers wasn't shown on SBS, it definitely fell into these top three generic endings.
In 2nd place was the place for all sad dramas to end, the hospital with 30%. The hospital is usually used for the endings of those super dramatic dramas that have a lot of angst in them. I tend to avoid those because it always ends with someone dying of cancer or something.
And in 1st place with 43%, we have the ever popular airport scene! Apparently it is used because it can be a place of both meeting and separation. Popular drama On Air also ended with all of the main characters meeting at the airport. Furthermore, all happy endings end with the bully character apologizing to the main character and turning into a good person. Then the main character, because they are always a kind and forgiving person, accepts their apology. Geez, k-dramas completely fail in the realistic aspect, but they're an addiction one just can't quit.
