The infamous red and black Korean cartoon character is making its comeback to Korea as an upscale brand. New girl group 4minute has recieved the honors to represent Pucca in Korea.
Pucca is no longer just a cartoon character; it has become a fashion icon. Since their launch in 2001, it only took two years for it to breakthrough to the European couture. Brands like United Colors of Benetton, fascinated by Pucca, gained a license to use the character on their top fashion items. Pucca is being distributed through Walt Disney in the United States. Coming back to Korea, the fashion icon was recently re-introduced at the Seoul Character and Licensing Fair where Puccas were portrayed as models on a runway and 4 minute were recent ambassadors.
4minute has been chosen to endorse Pucca due to the funky yet cute style they have shown to the public; they are also fit to target the age group that Pucca plans to market to.
I feel that 2NE1 also has a good shot at endorsing Pucca as well. Pucca is said to be a character that is wild and is very strong against others; in a relationship she would be the one wearing the pants. With comparison of 2NE1 and 4minute, 2NE1 seems to fit that description more- they seem a lot more hardcore than 4minute. But at the same time with the whole 'cutesy' girl image, 4minute plays it off better. Can't wait for some photo shoot eye candy to come!
