8Eight’s latest single stirs up controversy

Talented vocal group 8Eight is recently becoming a hot issue for using autotune in their latest digital single Term of Validity / Availability Period (유효기간).

After the song’s release on March 8th, online message boards on various music sites such as MelOn, Mnet, etc. were continually filled with comments regarding the machine usage.

Music fans criticized, “Do skilled artists like them have to use autotune? It’s pitiful that even 8Eight has to pretend to be like idols. Win by your vocal skills,” creating a situation where they showed distaste towards the machine usage.

Meanwhile, fans fought back, “Do skilled artists only have to sing ballads? What does vocal power and machine use matter? Can only idols use machines?”

Additionally, producer Bang Shi Hyuk explained, “Please concentrate on the 8Eight members’ vocals, which is harmonized with an electronic sound that is different from the usual 8Eight music.”

I loved 8Eight from the moment they debuted because of their powerful voices, and I applaud them for trying out a new genre of music.

2PM, 2AM, Brown Eyed Girls, Kara, T-ara & more for Thailand concert in April!

Heads up Thailand, you’ve got a big storm of idols coming your way! Mnet is bringing kpop to Bangkok with the Show King M Bangkok concert sponsored by Adamas. The line-up includes huge hits like OneDay (2AM & 2PM), 8Eight, the Brown Eyed Girls, CNBLUE, Kara, Kim Tae Woo, MBLAQ, T-ara, D-NA (“THE BOSS” is one of their alternative names) and many more. With such a star-studded schedule, this event is guaranteed to be a huge success!

As the official poster reveals, the concert will be held at Bangkok’s Rajamangala National Stadium next month on April 6, leaving just over a month for fans to freak out and make plans to get to this concert. But that’s not all – admission is free!

With at least seventeen artists & idol groups headlining this event (there are seventy-four idols mentioned on the above poster alone), Mnet is definitely bringing out the big guns with this event. Although it may be disappointing for some that no SM Entertainment or YG Entertainment artists have been mentioned, I’m sure this huge line-up will do more than satisfy Thai kpop fans’ needs on April 6!

Top 10 for 2009 Melon Music Awards confirmed! Will fans see Super Junior and SNSD at the award ceremony?

The long-awaited top 10 list for ‘2009 Melon Music Awards 2009′ has been confirmed.

The upcoming event to be held on 16th December in Olympic Park Olympic Hall has confirmed the nominees for the awards to be – 2NE1, 2PM, 8eight, Davichi, Brown Eyed Girls, So Nyeo Shi Dae, Super Junior, KARA, K Will and GDragon.

We see that in the Top 10 this year, there are idol groups like KARA, 2NE1 and So Nyeo Shi Dae etc. And there are also other musicians like 8eight and K Will who have received great love from music fans for their music this year.

The awards to be given out at the award ceremony are ‘2009 Artiste’, ‘2009 Album’, ‘2009 Song’ and ‘2009 New Artiste’ etc for the Top 10.

With the Top 10 decided, there are many fans who have been concerned. In particular, many are wondering if SM Entertainment artistes Super Junior and So Nyeo Shi Dae will attend the award ceremony or win awards for the event.

Because of the discord between their company and Mnet, the 2 groups were absent for MAMA this year, and because of that they also did not win any awards on the show, even though the 2 teams have received overwhelming responses from fans for their music this year.

Meanwhile, the 2nd window of online polls for the 10 teams will open from 24th November and till end on 13th December.

8Eight to have their First Theater Concert

It has been announced that gender-mixed group 8Eight will have their first theater stage performance called "Maximize Level" to feature their third and latest album, "Golden Age"! For three days, from October 9th to the 11th, the group will have their concert at the Seoul DaeChiDong KT&G Sang Sang Art Hall. 8Eight will participate in the Sang Sang Relay Concert along with artists Park Hye Kyung, Go Yoo Jin, and Wax.

Leader of the pack, Lee Hyun, has expressed that this concert will show a different and more lively 8Eight, overflowing with energy. He has also revealed that they will perform their usual emotional ballads, but on top of that, have been preparing for a more dynamic and vibrant feel.

On a side note, although 8Eight's first theater concert "Maximize Level" has not had much publicity, the ticket sales say otherwise. Good for them!

Group 8eight poses with Lady Gaga

3-member composite group 8eight had a surprise meeting with pop singer Lady Gaga.

The 2 met at the Grand Intercontinental on 9th August when Lady Gaga was in Korea having a visit and also doing a performance.

JuHee of 8eight who appeared wearing Lady Gaga’s artiste tee shirt said, “We felt the great energy from Lady Gaga when we went to watch her showcase in June. And meeting her in person, we felt the energy from her easy going and calm personality.”

Meanwhile, 8eight is promoting their follow-up hit ‘울고 싶어 우는 사람이 있겠어’.

8eight Doesn’t Cry

It's only been 2 months since 8eight was last on stage performing "Goodbye My Love", but this trio was clearly hard at work during their 2 month hiatus. They have digitally released their single "No One Cries Because They Want to Date" featuring two songs which they have remixed from The Golden Age Repacked album.

The MV for the first single "No One Cries Because They Want to Date" is merely a compilation of photos and videos from photo shoots, baseball games, performances, and late nights at the studio.

And the 2nd track off the digital single album is one that many should already be familiar with. 8eight has performed the piano version of their single "Goodbye My Love" with SHINee's Taemin before and they decided it would be a great addition to the digital release and I totally agree.

Davichi member Kang Min Kyung revealed on KBS Star GoldenBell filmed on 22nd June, “It would be great to have a boyfriend like 8eight Lee Hyun.”

Lee Hyun has been in the spotlight for appearing with great body built on men’s magazine ‘Men’s Health’. And when they were talking about the photoshoot during the show, MC Kim JaeDong caught Kang Min Kyung’s reaction.

8eight’s first #1 3 years after debut

Composite 3-member group 8eight has their first #1 3 years into their debut.

Their song ‘Goodbye my Love’, released on 11th June, is #1 on weekly chart on Bugs Music.

Other than that, the song is also up #1 on the daily chart of other music sites like Dosirak, Soribada, Muz and Melon.

The group has made a successful comeback beginning of the year with ‘Without the heart’ and ‘Goodbye my love’ is their 2nd hit of the year, and it has proven their capabilities by doing very strong on various music charts, receiving much love from music fans.

8eight releases original Goodbye My Love

Group 8eight's song Goodbye My Love has been said to have been made 2 years ago; however, it has been recorded, edited, mixed, and mastered multiple times to be upgraded to be the song that has been released.

The song's composer Bang Shi Hyuk released the original version on his Cyworld and explained the differences in the 2 versions, "2 years ago, it seemed too experimental and we couldn't release it and waited for the right time. Goodbye My Love is getting a lot of love so I'm happy. Due to numerous requests, I have decided to released the original. Finding the differences between the two songs should be fun."

Goodbye My Love starts with Lee Hyun and Joo Hee's vocals while in the original it starts with Lee Hyun's narration. I can't really tell the difference but I have sucky speakers and no patience but maybe you guys can figure out more.

8eight Shows Us Healthy The Right Way

Leader of the 3 member vocal group 8eight, Lee Hyun has revealed his luxury abs in a photoshoot for global men’s magazine ‘Men’s Health’ with fellow 8eight member, Joohee on the 16th at a beach in Kyungkido.

This is the first time a male and female member of a group modeled together for ‘Men’s Health’, where male celebrities are the usual cover models. Summers have been an exception as a special, where in previous magazines, Jewelry's Park Jungah and Korea's favorite sexy girl Lee Hyori each appeared on the cover with a male model.

Joohee amazed the staff members at the scene as she gave off a sexy and amazing aura together with Lee Hyun. ‘Men’s Health’ editor in chief Jung Hyewook stated how Lee Hyun’s body was so good beyond expectation and surprised him/her. The healthy with sexy concept was digested well.

Wow, goodbye my love and hello Lee Hyun. He’s smoking hot! I truthfully didn’t expect this at all but I’m definitely pleased. But I’m surprised the pictures didn’t come out awkward at all even with the fact that Joohee is top nude with her group’s leader and… Okay, I don’t want to think about it.

Anyways, 8eight’s new song “Goodbye My Love” is ranging around 1st and 2nd on online charts and is doing quite well on offline charts as well.

8Eight Comeback Performance with Goodbye My Love

Talented group 8Eight made their comeback with a performance of "Goodbye My Love," on today's MNet M! Countdown.

8Eight’s Third Teaser for “Goodbye My Love”

The third teaser for 8Eight's "Goodbye My Love" is out and the female star is NOT Sohee, but rather "Boys Over Flower" star Kim So Eun. After the end of BOF, she has received numerous offers with movies, dramas, CFS, etc, but this is the first music video that she is featured in.

Along with Kim So Eun and 2AM's Jung Jin Woon, the 3rd leg to this love triangle has been revealed to be actor Jung Gyeo Woon. Although she is a couple with Jung Gyeo Woon, she receives a one sided love from Jin Woon. In the music video, she is expected to show a variety of emotions from being lively and animated to being filled with sadness.

8Eight's representative stated, "The last song, "Without a Heart," received a lot of attention with Sohee's presence in the teaser, we expect that Kim So Eun's teaser will also bring a lot of attention." 8Eight's digital single "Goodbye My Love" is to be released on the 11th.

Gahh, This MV seems to have a similar to "Without a Heart," which means it looks super sad. But now I have to watch it because of Kim So Eun! And for those of you who don't know who Jung Gyeo Woon is, here's a pic:

8eight’s Second Teaser for Goodbye My Love

Oh my, When I first saw this 2nd teaser for 8eight's new single, "Goodbye My Love", I was speechless. WHAT? WHAT JUST HAPPENED TO JINWOON? In the 1st teaser for the music video, we saw Jinwoon being silly and saying "I love you" in almost every way possible. However, in this teaser, he says "I love you" once...dying...after getting hit by a truck... Yeah, that’s right.

If I heard correctly, right before he gets hit by the truck, he says, "The truth is, I liked Sohee noona lot." Then, BOOM! The truck comes and hits him, and he's on the floor saying "I love you" with his painfully adorable smile. Between these two scenes you can see a guy and a girl doing something I can't figure out. Did he just say SOHEE NOONA? Sohee from Wonder Girls? Is that girl in the transition Sohee? Does this have to do with the Without a Heart music video? Who, what, when, where, WHY? WHAT'S GOING ON??? So many questions, yet so little hints. 8eight is really good at this whole suspense thing. I'll be on the tip of my toe until June 11th when the music video is released. Stay tuned on ALLKPOP because we’ll bring you the answers to your questions as soon as the music video is released! By the way, the song itself is sounding amazing even though we can only hear a couple of seconds of it. But then again, 8eight’s songs are always impressive.

8Eight Releases Teaser Starring 2AM’s Jinwoon

8Eight has finally released the teaser to their new single "Goodbye, My Love" (잘가요 내사랑) starring 2AM's Jung Jinwoon. Even though the teaser is pretty much pointless, as it doesn't even really let us see the concept (though who can complain when Jinwoon is behaving so cutely?!) of the music video or even hear a bit of the song, I'm sure it will be good, considering the rest of 8Eight's music is awesome.

This is the second time 8Eight has used a JYP Entertainment artist in their videos... Lets hope that Jinwoon will be as much of a hit as Sohee was in "Without a Heart."

2AM to appear for 8eight’s new MV

Group 2AM has been said to have volunteered to appear in 8eight’s new MV from their upcoming digital single.

2AM showed interests to appear for 8eight’s upcoming new single title song MV after news went out about the new digital single. And this will be the first time that the 2 groups are working together.

2AM, “We really like 8eight’s ‘Without a heart’ that we sing in on radio and also changed the lyrics and filmed a video for president song together. We hope that with the MV, 2AM and 8eight can have more working opportunities together.”

2AM previously performed their own version of ‘Without a heart’ on Park Kyung Rim’s radio show last April. They also met together in the waiting room where they changed the lyrics to the song to become the ‘president song’.

8eight will be releasing a new digital single on 11th June.
