Seungri, “I didn’t want to be left as Big Bang’s ‘cute maknae’”
“My solo album? Hahaha, it’s not a conspiracy with Yang CEO like I said on variety shows.”
Last 2009, Seungri (21, Lee Seung Hyun) came out with solo performances, surprising his fans. Turning into a Seungri that oozed of manliness, he exceeded expectations by having a stage performance that was impressive and talented.
“My solo activities weren’t planned. There was this time I sang “U-Go-Girl” with Lee Hyori nuna at MKMF. Yang CEO saw that and I guess he thought ‘It’ll be okay if I put him up on stage alone.”
To promote a solo song which the hyungs haven’t even done. Seungri was so excited. He felt like he had the world at his fingertips.
“G-Dragon hyung said to me for the first time, ‘I’m jealous.’ Hahaha, my ego grew large. And I worked really hard to prepare for it. I didn’t want to be left as Big Bang’s ‘cute maknae.’ Really, I practised like crazy.
Taking up exercise, he worked to throw away “young Seungri.” He wanted to show an image that wasn’t “Big Bang’s Maknae” but “manly,” and talent as an artist.
I made my body through a totally sparta-like regimen. For food, I ate mostly Korean food, and I changed the way I spoke, the way I walked, my posture, and the way I looked at people. I wanted to go for a sexy concept. I wanted to have the music video be a little dangerous. Hahaha, Yang CEO also said, “Do it however you want” and gave me freedom to do what I wanted.
Choreographing for his song himself, he was so happy. It felt like a dream, that he could make the perfect performance he’d imagined in his head.
“I was even more happy because the response was good. It doesn’t matter if I just tried and worked hard. It only means something if the public likes it. The hardest thing is when people show disappoitment. It’s hard because you see this, not because it’s hard physically.”

Seungri’s First Love was a Cheater
Seungri of Big Bang recently sat down and spoke of what many idols are afraid of discussing – past relationships.
During the interview, Seungri told a poignant tale of his first love. As a busy worker in the entertainment business, Seungri often doubted that he would ever find true love. He often had distressing thoughts among the lines of, “I’m busy as hell, how would I ever have time for a girlfriend?” His doubts made him very cautious of contacting even those whom he found interesting and dateable.
Alas, even Seungri found a first love, whom he fell in love for at first sight when the girl passed by his dance team’s show after going to the movies with a friend. He later got a chance to talk to this girl, who was studying to be a model in Gwangju, when her friend asked for a photo.
Realizing that this was the perfect time to make his move, Seungri suggested, “You should come into the photo too.” From that moment, their love sprouted – but they were still forced to date in secret due to the celebrity-like fame of Seungri’s dance team.
The couple lasted for three years, until Seungri debuted as a member of Big Bang and his girlfriend went to university to become a teacher. Although they had always supported each other’s dreams, they slowly began to drift apart.
However, Seungri placed full trust in his girlfriend, thinking, “She’s my girl, so I know she’ll stay by my side.” Unfortunately, this was not the case, and Seungri found out that she had cheating on him with a university junior after browsing the girl’s minihompy and finding the word “Oppa♥” written on it.
Unlike many people who may bitterly think hateful thoughts towards their ex after such a breakup, kind Seungri accepted the fact that she had simply moved on.
And so to this day, the boy is still looking for a true love – like many other idols out there. However, it looks like he’s got an idea in mind: “I want to date someone normal. I don’t want this difficult love….”

Star Diary Part II "Most of Gwangju's female students seem to know you..."
Although mighty popular in his hometown amongst friends and girls, Seungri learnt early on that becoming a celebrity wasn’t as easy as he initially thought.
So, Seungri (21, Real name: Lee Seung Hyun) had become a well known dancer in Gwangju. His talent gradually caught the attention of people in the entertainment industry.“Would you like to consider becoming a singer?”
This short question from one casting manager inflated the young Seungri’s heart with dreams:
“I was young, so I blindly thought ‘Should I try becoming a celebrity?’. I appeared on this program where they said they were choosing the second Shinhwa”.
Unfortunately however, Seungri suffered the disappointment of elimination only after a mere two months. For Seungri, who had already experienced fame and had only excelled forward in his hometown, it was a tough experience. His busy schedule that made him go back and forth between Seoul and Gwangju also took its toll on him physically.
“I had to go back and forth between Gwangju and Seoul, but they wouldn’t even feed me or let me sleep. They didn’t even give me money for transport, so it was really hard. It made me realise that ‘Becoming a celebrity isn’t easy.’ And so, eventually, I packed my bags and went home.”
What was more unbearable for him, more than the physical hardships he had to endure were the critical reactions from the people around him.
“My friends scorned me. They said I sucked at singing and wasn’t very good [on the show]. Even my homeroom teacher said: ‘I don’t really think that’s the path you should be taking. You should quickly find another path for yourself.’ My homeroom teacher was really pretty but she never seemed uglier to me than she was that day.”
‘You’ll see.’ With that, he became angrily determined to prove himself. He started going to an academy to learn singing. He hated being told ‘you suck’ more than anything else in the world.
“To me, Park Dae Hong, who was the director of one academy in Gwangju, was like an angel who fell from the sky. He contacted me, saying: “I’ve heard a lot about you. Most of Gwangju’s female students seem to know about you too. I want to polish your talents.’ He‘s the one who also discovered 2NE1’s Gong Minji and even Kara’s Goo Hara; both of them are originally from Gwangju too. He set me up with some tutors and helped me out a lot.”
With the help of Director Park Dae Hong, who recognised his talents, Seungri was later able to audition for an entertainment industry. Sadly however, what they were looking for weren’t Seungri’s singing or dancing skills.
“They told me to draw my hair back and show them my forehead, and to tuck my hair behind my ears. After that, they took a picture of my profile and my front. I went again later on and showed them my dancing, but I didn’t hear from them again.”
With that, he fell into despair once again, but there was one person who recognised his talents…

SeungRi, “I will take the responsibility and help SNSD Yuri find a cool boyfriend”
Big Bang SeungRi reveals that he will help out So Nyeo Shi Dae Yuri, who is also a 2010 batch freshman like himself.
SeungRi was featured for an interview on KBS 2TV Entertainment Relay aired on 6th February when he said, “I’m from the same freshman batch as So Nyeo Shi Dae Yuri. I’ll take the responsibility to help her find a cool boyfriend.”
SeungRi and Yuri are both accepted into Central University theatre and movie course for 2010.
And SeungRi also emphasized, “I don’t have any intentions on Yuri.” and then he did a video message, “2010 batch friend Yuri ssi. Let’s get along well. See you at school. Bye.”
SeungRi also said during the interview, “When I go to college, I really want to join a ‘meeting’* like college students do.”

Heo Yi Jae gave Big Bang’s Seungri a piggyback ride
Heo Yi Jae shared a rather interesting story about Big Bang's Seungri on Strong Heart (Kang Shim Jang) today.
The words "Popular 'B' group's 'S' member were written on Heo's board during the show, hinting that she was talking about Big Bang's Seungri. So what happened between them?
The celebrity explained, "While I was the MC for Inkigayo, the person looked at me and greeted me in a unique, cute way. It was so different than other people's greetings and I didn't even know him. I was so curious as to why he did that, to the point that I couldn't even sleep."
"Months later, I moved into the same agency as him. Later on, I got cast for a movie with him called 19. I was nervous and I decided that I was going to ask him about it when we got close," Heo continued.
"Once, we were filming on a mountain with not a lot of people and he asked to me give him a piggyback ride. So I gave him one and he yelled, 'Go! Go!' But when other people came in, he acted like nothing had happened. He blinks a lot when he's nervous." This tale made the cast burst in laughter.
I wonder what Seungri would think to have this particular event revealed to the world... what a dork!

Exam Time For Your Favorite Idols!
It's that time of the year: EXAM TIME!
On the 12th of November, the 3rd year High School students will be taking their "sooneung (수능)" which is equivalent to the SAT's. Most students have been preparing for this test all year (more like all their lives), and the young celebrity idols are no exception to this population.
So, who's taking the test?
2AM's Jung Jin Woon, 4Minute's Jeon Ji Yoon and Heo Ga Yoon, SHINee's Minho, and FT Island's Jae Jin are only some of the idols in the bunch.
4 out of 6 members of the rookie group, BEAST, Yong Jun Hyung, Jang Hyun Seung, Lee Ki Gwang, and Son Dong Woon, will be taking the test.
2NE1's CL should be taking the exam, however, she will not because she is very occupied with 2NE1's upcoming album. Also, because of the busy schedules of Kara's Nicole and Goo Hara, they will not be taking the exam. Nicole, who does not have a Korean high school diploma because she came from America, is preparing to take the qualification exam (검정고시) which is taken by those who do not have a high school diploma to get into college.
On the other hand, many celebrities are getting recruited from colleges these days.
Recently, Girl's Generation's Yuri, and Big Bang's Seung Ri were accepted into JoongAng University and DongGuk University's School of Theater and Film. Also, Girl's Generation's Seohyun, and Son Dambi were admitted into other prestigious schools.
Will this year's applicants have as much success as the previous year's?

Preview of 19 featuring T.O.P. and Seungri
Earlier today we reported about KBS2 showing a preview for Heaven's Postman. Well it seems the same program also showed an extended preview of the movie 19.
The movie stars Big Bang's T.O.P. and Seungri along with actress Heo Ji Yae. It follows the life of three 19 year old teenagers (TOP, Seungri, and Heo Yi Jae) on the run after being accused of murdering someone. The police, the media, friends, and even their families all believe that they are guilty of the crime. While on the run, all three of them become closer and they realize how precious life is and that they shouldn't take it for granted.

New trailer for T.O.P. and Seungri’s movie “19”
A trailer for one the joint Korean and Japanese Telecinema movies titled '19' featuring Big Bang's T.O.P. and Seungri was released earlier today.
The movie also stars actress Heo Ji Yae and follows the life of three 19 year old teenagers (TOP, Seungri, and Heo Yi Jae) on the run after being accused of murdering someone. The police, the media, friends, and even their families all believe that they are guilty of the crime. While on the run, all three of them become closer and they realize how precious life is and that they shouldn't take it for granted.

Official poster to telecinema ‘19′ featuring TOP and SeungRi revealed!
The poster to Big Bang TOP and SeungRi’s telecinema ‘19′ has been revealed. Also the screening date to the movie has also been set to be on 12th November.
‘My 19′ is a suspense drama that shows the cruelty in society and how the lives of three teenagers are connected. TOP and Seungri play the roles of two 19-year-old teenagers who are have been accused of a homicide case but they meet Heo Yi Jae who joined them and they formed a strong friendship.
Heo Yi Jae plays the role of ‘Chae Eun Yeong’ TOP plays ‘Seo Jung Hoon’ and Seungri plays ‘Park Min Seo’. Heo Yi Jae drops out of school in order to practice in a salon as a trainee, while her mother who is ill is in the hospital.
TOP and Seungri are suspects of a homicide case, but they runaway from the police station and start to investigate this murder case along with Heo Yi Jae. Their friendship grows more and more as the story develops forcing them all to connect for the same cause.

Big Bang GDragon reveals that his disagreement with member SeungRi
On Mnet GDTV aired on 19th August, GDragon was seen doing making and filming for his MV.
GDragon said, “Because of the dog, we cannot sleep at night. The dog would bite our nose when we fall asleep. When GaHo (the group’s dog name) grows up, it will bite. He even bite SeungRi.”
With that Kush said, “It is also true that Big Bang members have discords.” GDragon said, “It is true that there are disagreements between me and SeungRi.”
“As compared to discord, it is more like everyone is bullying me. The rest really do not care much about me.” causing laughter from those around.
Kush then added, “Those things we said earlier will be edited out.” and GDragon said, “It is not right that it all beep~ and gets handled. I’ll say what I want to say.”

Big Bang’s Seungri tries for a hole in one
Seems like the Big Bang magnae has more talent than we thought.Seungri revealed some mad skillzzzz… in golf.
On the July 2nd episode of Japan’s Fuji TV program, “Domo Kininaru”, the 19 year old Big Bang member revealed that he’s been playing golf since childhood. His father is a golf pro. Whoa. Not only that, but he can do a complete course in 85-90 strokes. For those who don’t know golf, that’s not bad.
In the clip, you can hear the Big Bang members speaking Japanese! Particularly, when the announcer asks Seungri what’s different between Korea and Japan, he answers, “the air… and the sky…?” Say what?! Anyway, check it out for yourself.

Big Bang SeungRi passed his qualification examination!
It has been known that Big Bang SeungRi has passed his qualification examination in May.
After quitting from high school, SeungRi has applied to take the examination and has passed it in May.
A YG representative said, “SeungRi has passed his qualification test in May.” on 16th July. SeungRi will be sitting for his SAT test this year too. Debuting as member of Big Bang, SeungRi has voluntarily pull out of high school to focus on the group’s activity.
Meanwhile, Big Bang is currently promoting in Japan and their song ‘Gara Gara Go’ is doing very well there going up to the #5 position on Japan Oricon chart.

Big Bang Seungri and Daesung’s “Shouting” Photoshoot
Big Bang members Seungri and Daesung have done a photo shoot for their upcoming musical “Shouting” which is due to premiere in August this year.
“Shouting” which is being produced jointly by YG Entertainment and Seol & Company aims to gain a teenage market, not the traditional market of 20s to 30s for musicals through its inclusion of high profile stars. The musical itself is based off Big Bang’s bestselling autobiographical book “Shouting to the World.” Many hit songs will be used throughout the musical including some new Big Bang songs that are currently unreleased. .”Shouting” will run for 11 days in August and will be held at the KEPCO Art Center.

Big Bang SeungRi, “After ‘CloseNote’, I’m much closer to DaeSung hyung”
Big Bang member SeungRi and DaeSung was in Seoul Lotte Hotel for the press conference for their upcoming music ‘Shouting’ on 12th June.
That day, SeungRi said, “This is my second try at musical. Even though I’m nervous and little pressured about it, I’ll work hard.”
“Because we had experienced in musical, we were casted instead of the other members. The other members are also giving us much support.”
SeungRi also talked about the aftermath of their appearance on SBS Close Note, “After the filming for the show, I am much more closer with DaeSung hyung. And with this production, we will present ourselves as even closer hyung and dongsaeng.”
SeungRi continued, “We hope that the youngsters who did not know much about musical culture but because of us, many of them will become more aware of it.”
SeungRi and DaeSung had participated in the musicals ‘Sonagi’ and Cats’ in 2008. And SeungRi even won the popularity award for the 3rd The Musical Awards.
Meanwhile the musical ‘Shouting’ will take place from 12th till 23rd August in Seoul HanJeon Art Centre.
1st window for tickets sales will start on 17th June.

Big Bang Daesung and SeungRi to star in own musical
Big Bang's Daesung and SeungRi will be starring in a new musical based on their best selling autobiography "Shout it out to the world." Shout it to the world basically talks about Big Bang's past experiences, how they made it into YG Entertainment, and how Big Bang came to be.
As for the musical, this won't be anything new for both of these Big Bang members as Daesung played Rum Tum Tugger in "Cats," while SeungRi had a role in the musical "Sonagi." Because of their past musical performance experiences, they're the perfect choices for the musical.
The musical will be a joint production between YG Entertainment, Sam and Parker, and Blue Stage. A press conference is scheduled for June 12th with more details about the musical and the musical is currently scheduled to premiere on August 8th.
