School uniform companies have been raking in millions of won utilizing singers and stars to advertise for them. However, on January 23, 2009, the Ministry of Education, Science, and Technology (MEST) recently banned these companies such as Elite, Smart, and Ivy Club from utilizing stars to bring in profit. All contracts must be void by February 2009 (Before the new school year in beginning of March).
What is going on with this country? Shouldn’t the government stay out of commercial affairs? Does the government think that banning celebrity endorsements of uniforms will force students to concentrate on their studies instead? They should think again.
The start studded ads included Shinhwa, F.T. Island, Shinee, 2 PM, Big Bang, Kim Yeon Ah, Girls Generation, Wondergirls, and many more.
