Lee Hyori’s advice to Park Bom is….

So what exactly was Lee Hyori’s advice to Park Bom?

On Maybee’s radio show, “Turn up the Volume” on July 16th, Lee Hyori made a surprise call to her hubae, Park Bom with the following advice:

"drink more, party more, go to clubs, meet guys, and do what you want… don’t limit yourself…. experiment with different makeup looks, try different clothing styles… I’m sure you will be a much more cooler than you are now."

However, Lee Hyori also warned:

"Don’t drink and play…. be open to new experiences but not too open….and to make sure that you work hard to be a better singer/pop act for our country….."

Huh? Didn’t Lee Hyori just contradict herself? Sandara Park doesn’t need to be jealous.

Big Bang are “Bangs”

Big Bang has immortalized themselves into cartoon characters for export. The 5?member group will try to license out their official characters to overseas buyers at the “2009 Character and Licensing Fair” being held at Samsung Coex Convention Center (July 22 to 27^th).

Would anyone want to license Big Bang? Perhaps the V.I.Pers will?

Out of the characters, the only one that truly resembles the real thing is the “TOP” character (far right).

Han Hyo-joo talks flattened noses and kissing

Han Hyo-joo shared her thoughts on the kissing scene with “Shining Inheritance” co-star, Lee Seung-ki.

On the SBS program, “TV Entertainment Night” on July 22^nd, the 22 year old expressed some regret that her nose was flattened during the kissing scene. Her confession was viewed by 40% of viewers for the time slot. Those are probably the same television watchers who also tune into the weekend drama (43.4%, according to TNS survey).

Brown Eyed Girls sexy video will not be re-edited

With their sleeker and sexier image, the Brown Eyed Girls play up what they have in their new racy music video, “Abracadabra.” However, netizens are protesting that the rough scenes are too sexy for the eyes of the young and innocent.

However, Brown Eyed Girls’ management released a statement noting that the music video is like a movie or drama, so the sexy action is fake and not mean to be taken as real. Therefore, no changes or re-edits will be made.

The Brown Eyed Girls have just released their third album, “Sound G” on July 21^st.

[Music Video] Son Dam-bi & After School “Amoled”

Way to sell a phone, ladies.
The anticipated collaboration project between Pledis Entertainment’s power players, After School and Son Dam-bi, is finally here.

As was announced earlier, these girls will not be performing this song on any music broadcasting shows, which now makes absolute sense because this project is part of Son Dambi’s endorsement deal with Samsung. Just like Big Bang and 2NE1’s collaboration, “Lollipop,” the song “Amoled” is strictly for advertising purposes.

Son Dam-bi gets a lot of screen time, since this is her endorsement deal, not After School’s. Yet the girls get some time to shine, but mainly as glorified backup dancers.

“Amoled” is basically electronica fluff, but it’s nice seeing the ladies in svelte, cool leather.

2NE1’s Dara broke the trophy

Way to take care of your things.

Apparently, the faux crystal trophy broke the day 2NE1 actually received it on Music Bank. 2NE1 got the honor on July 24th by placing number one for two weeks straight.

She posted on me2day that she has tried glue, superglue, and whatever else she could find to try to restore it, but alas, nothing helped. The CEO doesn’t know yet, and she’s not sure how to explain this to him without making him mad over their negligence.

In the long run, trophies don’t really matter, but they broke it in one day. Tsk tsk tsk.

Here’s the video of them winning. 2NE1’s “I Don’t Care” won by a really narrow margin against Girls Generation. You can see that the trophy looks like it was kicked down and the top fell off. Oh, the production value is so high on Music Bank.

2NE1’s Dara hasn’t forgotten the Philippines

Just because she’s breaking into the Korean industry doesn’t mean they don’t care about her anymore.
As 2NE1 is on the rise, wannabe maknae Dara is still getting love from the land where she first rose to stardom. For the Filipino channel TFC on the program “Entertainment Live,” the reporter, Bianca, stopped by Korea to visit Sandara Park to make sure that Dara remembers the Philippines and that the Philippines hasn’t forgotten her.

Judging from the outfits, it looks like this interview was conducted on July 12th, which was the day of their SBS Inkigayo “comeback” with “I Don’t Care.” The interview is pretty entertaining. Dara basically says that she misses the Philippines, keeps in touch with her celebrity friends from there, and that she wouldn’t object to the idea of 2NE1’s next stop being the archipelago if it was presented.

The rest of the 2NE1 crew also make an appearance at the end to introduce themselves in Tagalog. Also, who doesn’t love that completely blank stare that their stylist is wearing in the background?

Brown Eyed Girls hit the stage

And they aren’t afraid to show a little skin.

Brown Eyed Girls are back and they are really ready to sex up the SBS Inkigayo stage. I have to say their performances were so flawless that it makes me question how much of it was lip synced, and it’s hard to tell because there are a lot of synthesized vocal parts.

Donning “Daisy Duke”-like attire, the ladies were showing off a lot more skin than I am used to from them, but I have to say, their abs are as toned as After School’s. It was a little too much “fan service” though.

Their performance of “Abracadabra” feels as if they replicated the MV exactly on stage. Not sure if that’s a good or bad thing, but one thing is for sure, Miryo thinks she is too fly for those megawatt sunglasses. Nothing like tossing back an expensive looking prop to solidify your badass-ery.

Kara is Sweet Love

Earlier we reported about Kara endorsing Tweety and now the shoot for "The Sweet Love" campaign is out on the August issue of Marie Claire. The annual campaign is to help raise awareness for adoption of children around the globe. "The Sweet Love" campaign with Kara will run through December to promote and gain more attention for all the orphans out there and the proceeds from the photoshoot will be donated to help the children. HyunA’s Feelings About Wonder Girls

HyunA of 4minute (ex-Wonder Girls) finally revealed how she felt about the Wonder Girls' success.

On the most recent episode of KBS2TV Star Golden Bell on 25th July, she stated that, "In the beginning, I was hurt and uncomfortable when the Wonder Girls became successful. It was a new feeling that there was someone new in my place. However, as time passed, I became more comfortable with it."

If I were HyunA, I would be ripping my hair out from regret and jealously. Come on! Look at Wonder Girls' success, they're even touring in the U.S with the Jonas Brothers! Now Hyunah is stuck in a group singing Milkshake (Although, I do think their song Hot Issue is pretty catchy). I do however believe that the Wonder Girls today would have been very different without the sexy Yoo Bin. Everything happens for a reason, right?

On this episode, 4minute also revealed that the members always hold their hands for teamwork. The youngest of the group, So Hyun said, "We always hold our hands to demonstrate that we are a team. We even hold our hands when we go to the bathroom."

One word: EW.


So Hyun also said, “HyunA’s charm just go off the charts.” On the other hand, So Hyun complained that her voice was too mature for her age.

Wooyoung is Fergie and Jokwon is ... ?

The One Day boys are at it again! On Mnet's Superstar K, Jokwon and Wooyoung attempt to speak English with the encouragement of their bandmates. Jokwon starts off rambling in what seems to sound like French, leaving fluent speaker Taecyeon speechless. You can tell just by the look on Taec's face, he has no idea what Jokwon is saying and I don't either - even after watching the video a couple of times. However, Wooyoung took the spotlight as he says three simple words, "I am Fogi." This time Seulong, Junsu, Jokwon, and Taecyeon are all quiet until Taecyeon finally figures out that Wooyoung says he is Fergie. The guys reactions to this is priceless, you just have to see it for yourself!

2NE1 spreads the YG love

Popular rookie group 2NE1 appeared at fellow YG group Big Bang's 2009 Seoul Character and Licensing Fair. 2NE1 appeared at the fair instead of Big Bang because the male group was busy in Japan with promotional activities. They took pictures with the 'Bangs' images of the five members and it seemed they thoroughly enjoyed themselves as well. Looks like the crowd didn't notice the absence of Big Bang either because 2NE1 was definitely setting the roof on fire.

The girls are currently topping charts with their new song I Don't Care and are quickly climbing up to take their place as a household name.

Goo Hye Sun for Elle Girl

Unlike her co-stars on the early 2009 drama bonanza Boys Over Flowers, lead actress Goo Hye Sun has not invaded the CF or magazine world, only notably appearing in a CF for ADefying beauty cream after BOF ended. But, with her recent endorsement of Doutor Coffee Company and the Elle Girl photoshoot shown in this article, it seems that the artist/author/actress/singer extraordinaire is starting to take more steps into the consumer world.


I admittedly did not know Goo Hye Sun until after her BOF starring role, so I had no clue how much that high-school-girl haircut was hampering her attractiveness. The Korean demand for plastic surgeries modeled after Goo Hye Sun's appearance is beginning to make a little more sense.

Goo Hye Sun for Doutor Coffee Company

After turning down many offers of endorsement, Goo Hye Sun settles for Doutor Coffee Company. Unlike other artists who often accept offers right away, she had rejected many of them in the past because she had felt it wasn't right for her. This time she agreed on endorsing Doutor Coffee Company's new product Seoul Milk Doutor The Classic simply because she felt it was right for her.

Doutor Coffee Company has been around in Japan for 47 years, selling coffee to stores all around. The 'Seoul Milk Doutor The Classic,' mixed with three flavors of cafemocha, cafelatte, and cafeAmericano, is a collaboration between Japan's Doutor Coffee Company and Korea's Seoul Woo Yoo (Korean milk company). The Seoul Milk Doutor The Classic will be released on July 31st.

Go Ara romancing Yunho in Heading to the Ground

It has been confirmed that pretty plastic Go Ara will be romancing TVXQ's leader, U-Know Yunho in the new drama Heading to the Ground. She has been cast as the main girl Kang Hae Bin who works alongside Yunho's character.

Go Ara's character, Kang Hae Bin is a soccer agent that wants to be able to be recognized through her own strength in a man's world. She is first captivated by Bong Gun's (Yunho's) kick and although they fight often, he ends up saving her life and they fall in love.

The producer said about Go Ara "She is overflowing with energy and her ability to show emotions is very deep. She is an actress that always gives an attempt at everything and grows in the process. I think that this drama will be able to be a big hit due to Ara. I'm really glad because the drama has become very fresh and entertaining."

Go Ara herself mentioned about her excitement about being selected for the drama, "The script is so much fun that I read all of it up to the 10th episode in one sitting. I'm glad because this character is one that loves and grows throughout the drama."

I'm personally thrilled that Go Ara is going to be joining the production and it has given me one BIG reason to watch the drama. Despite all of you probably thinking it's only for the eye candy, she's actually a very good actress and her ability to portray emotions is outstanding. Just go and watch Who Are You with Go Ara and you guys will know what I mean. The fact that she's gorgeous is just one added bonus.

Another related news is that actress Lee Yoon Ji, who was once Kangin's wife on MBC We Got Married will be playing an old friend of Yunho's character and has feelings for him. She will thus play out a love triangle with Go Ara and Yunho in the drama.

Kim Bum & Jung Il Woo’s Birthday Date

Looks like Kim So Eun still hasn't been able to steal the special place in Kim Bum's heart because he spent his birthday with his best friend Jung Il Woo alone. During an interview, Jung Il Woo revealed that he had always been best friends with Boys Over Flowers star Lee Min Ho because he was a neighborhood friend while he became best friends with Kim Bum during the sitcom Unstoppable High Kick. As a result, all three boys became somewhat of a "Three Musketeers".

After revealing that he and Kim Bum had somewhat of a birthday date, he went on to say "But there was no big event or things like that. Since there wasn't exactly anyone else to go out and meet, we just spent his birthday playing games together."

Guess Min Ho was busy or else you guys could have had a threesome the "Three Musketeers" unite. On a side note, Jung Il Woo also mentioned that although he was not good at cleaning, he had confidence in his cooking abilities. Also, when asked about his current favorite girl group, he picked 2NE1.

Some Suju CFs Coming Your Way, with a Donghae bonus

Now that their promotions and Seoul Super Show concerts have ended, Super Junior fans might begin worrying that they won't get to see much of their boys anymore. Well, other than denying dating rumors, hosting radio shows, and playing in rock bands, certain members of Super Junior are also starting to appear in more CFs.

The identity of the female appearing with the boys in the CF is unknown as of now, but it doesn't really matter, as she might as well just be named "current object of ELF envy". The CF will inevitably be adorable, and fans are hoping for a fan-service scene in which Donghae and/or Kyuhyun apply facial cream on each other.


Speaking of Donghae, fancams and higher-quality audio captures of his self-composed solo track "Beautiful", which debuted during SuJu's Seoul Super Show concert, have made their way to Youtube. The creative talents of SuJu's Sungmin and Ryeowook have previously been on display (the two composed "Love U More" from the repackaged "Sorry Sorry" album), but Donghae's musical mind is a new novelty for the K-pop world. Considering the tightness of this track, however, there might just be a future star composer underneath Donghae's cutie visage.

TVXQ Leader Yunho’s Drama Debut

SM Entertainment had previously released a statement saying that all talk of TVXQ / DBSK / Tohoshinki's leader U-Know Yunho starring in dramas were false, but surprisingly, it has been confirmed that he will be indeed!

TVXQ's U-Know Yunho will be starring in MBC's Wed-Thurs drama Heading to the Ground (Without Preparation) as Cha Bong Goon. While the role was originally supposed to be played by actor Kim Rae Won, he was unable to take on the role because he received his enlistment notice. The first episode of this upcoming drama with TVXQ's leader will air on 9th September! With TVXQ oh so popular in all of Asia, and for soccer-mad countries like Korea and Japan, I can almost smell the money and ratings that this hit-to-be drama will be raking in.

In the drama, U-Know Yunho's character, Cha Bong Goon lives an unhappy life, having almost died three times in his life. However, as a lover of soccer, he aspires to become a professional national player. Eventually, with the passion he has for the sport, he overcomes the obstacles in his path and accomplishes his goal. This drama will show viewers a heartwarming story of his success and how he overcomes his obstacles.

Upon being selected, U-Know Yunho stated, "I really like Cha Bong Goon's character. When I read the script, my heart was touched. I want to express this acting honestly."

As excited as I am, I am also worried for U-Know Yunho, who has only had a wee bit of experience from SBS BanJun dramas and the TVXQ mini drama Vacation - to play the role offered originally to experienced actor, Kim Rae Won, will be very stressful for Yunho, as people will be expecting a lot from this legendary TVXQ member. But then again, there's always the fan girls who'd support him no matter what.

With actress Han Ga In dropping out of the picture earlier on, there's much speculation about who else will be joining Yunho. For now, there are only rumors about Go Ara, who with her connections with SM Entertainment, might just take on the manager role.

On a side note, while K-movie Heaven's Postman, starring another TVXQ member Jaejoong, still does not have a confirmed air date, we at least know the Yunho will be making his appearance on the small screen on September 9th!

If I was someone involved with the production, I would fight for the other DBSK members to have cameo roles too! It's just too good of an opportunity to let go of.

As there's no further information on the cast and the whereabouts of the shooting, this breaking news has got everyone talking! All will be revealed shortly, so stay tuned!

Kim Joon’s Jun Be, Ok Debut

It's been a while since we heard from F4 alumni, Kim Joon after he had released his solo song, Jun, Be Ok on 14th July, and included in T-Max's album. But finally, Kim Joon is embarking on his promotional schedule starting with Mnet M! Countdown on 23rd July, and will continue throughout the week on Music Bank and Inkigayo (?).

We know that Kim Hyun Joong added some appeal to Kim Joon's solo by appearing in his music video. But the always forgotten F4 member, Kim Joon looks equally capable to cut it on his own, what do you think of his performance?

Kara’s New Album “Revolution” Track List Revealed!

Kara has been teasing us with their 1st disheveled look picture and their 2nd silver-haired goddess teaser picture. Now the track list for their new album, "Revolution" has been revealed!

The song will have a funky yet groovy sound, and display Kara's confidence and charm.

Track number 4, "몰래몰래 (Secretly Secretly)" will include sad lyrics but refreshing melody.
Track number 5, "Let It Go" is a pop song that will show a never-before-seen powerful side of KARA.
Track number 6, "Take a Bow" - fresh, cool pop-dance song.
Track number 7, "AHA" is a dynamic and flowery song with lovely lyrics and a pretty melody.

F.T. Island Cover Lee Seung Gi’s “Will You Marry Me”

F.T. Island's guitarist and bassist, Song Seung Hyun, and Lee Jae Jin, respectively, covered Lee Seung Gi's newest single "Will You Marry Me" on M! Countdown. Although it would have been better if the original singer sang the song, these two attempted to make up for Lee Seung Gi's absence. I was not expecting much since no one can beat Lee Hongki's voice, however, I was pleasantly surprised by these two boys. It seems that Hongki was not the only one who could sing in F.T Island! No wonder Jae Jin was casted in the musical, "Sonagi" back in April.

Although pleasantly surprised, in the big picture, the performance wasn't outstanding - it was just pretty decent. Song Seung Hyun forgot the lyrics in the middle but, I have to say, his adorable smile just washed away his mistake! I hope to see these two boys singing more in the future and also Lee Seung Gi himself performing his song!

2PM’s Junsu in a Secret Rendezvous?

Fangirls are probably turning a deep shade of purple right now, but I hate to break it to ya ladies - 2PM's vocalist extraordinaire Junsu is rumored to have a girlfriend! No need to get too upset because honestly, the chances of this rumor being true are fairly slim.

Female Thai singer Waii has revealed to the Thai media that she is in a relationship with Junsu. While 2PM was doing promotions in Thailand for their album, Junsu managed to take time off his excruciating schedule to take a cab to her place, which took her by surprise! JYP himself supposedly caught wind of this Thai talent and rumors are already scattering around of her possibly being a trainee or artist under JYP Entertainment.

How ridiculous does that sound? This girl is smokin' something pretty strong because she's totally trippin'. The main thing that makes this rumor sound beyond far fetched is the fact that Junsu and this Waii girl don't even speak the same language. Unless he took some quick Thai 101 classes from fellow member, NichKhun, I'm pretty sure Junsu can't speak much Thai to save his life, much less establish a relationship with this girl who just appears out of nowhere. Aren't artists supposed to keep their relationships on the down low anyway?

Well, whatever the case may be, this whole thing got me interested in who this girl is. Check her out yourself and tell me if she's worth Junsu's heart or not.

TVXQ Yunho volunteers at Orphanagei

TVXQ / DBSK / Tohoshinki's leader Yunho is known to be kindhearted, evidenced by the fact of giving scholarships to his alma-mater. He continues this line of giving back by volunteering at an orphanage in Nam-gu, Gwangju City on July 18th.

Without telling his agency and management staff, he secretly contacted the orphanage and said he wanted to volunteer. The orphanage gladly agreed and said this would be a great opportunity for the orphaned kids to meet and hang out with a famous idol. Yunho and 10 other people, including his father, visited the orphanage on July 18th to do volunteer work. They prepared meals, helped clean, and Yunho himself spent some personal time with the kids.

This is a good example for other idols to follow. Even despite being tired from the Tokyo Dome concerts and the concert in Beijing, he took the little downtime he had to volunteer at an orphanage. Thanks to everyone who sent in tips.
