Lee Hyuk Jae apologizes to Battle for harsh remarks

We previously reported on Lee Hyuk Jae's disrespectful remarks toward Battle, a group that started out as mock Shinhwa then fizzled away, while he had BEAST on his radio show. With two members of Battle reacting negatively to his remark, Lee posted an apology statement on the official website of his radio show. He wrote:

I apologize to the company of Battle and the fans, as well as the audience of this show about my previous remarks for hurting feelings and causing trouble as the DJ of this show. I have been working in this industry for over ten years but I have not yet matured enough, and have not realized that others can get hurt from my inappropriate comparisons. I apologize deeply and I will learn from my mistakes. I will also apologize once again during the live show. I will take this as an opportunity to learn and improve as a radio DJ.

The netizens have shown mixed reaction to this controversy - some being outraged by Lee's remarks, but others say that Battle should thank Lee for giving them the much-needed media exposure. Some people are arguing that Battle are forgetting about what Lee did for them in the past; when he hosted popular show Sponge, newly-debuted Battle appeared in a segment as a group of eager young men who explore scientific mysteries in the Mythbusters-esque fashion. Sadly, the viewers did not enjoy the segment very much and it disappeared in few weeks. Some netizens even argue that the two members of Battle are very disrespectful towards as they reacted with cynicism to a remark made by someone with much more seniority in the entertainment industry; seniority is regarded very seriously in Korea and people view that Battle's messages towards Lee have been overly disrespectful.

With Lee posting a statement of apology and planning on following up his apologies on the show, it appears that the controversy will fade away soon.
