2PM’s ‘Without U’ Fires Up Controversies Once Again

Hours ago 2PM released their new song and music video from their 3rd single ‘Don’t Stop Can’t Stop’ and while the song immediately went to the top of the charts it seems not everyone is happy.

The story behind ‘Without U’ is that of a man that was betrayed by a woman and now he wants to continue on with his life.

The lyrics say,

“Fine, it’s better that we break up. This was bound to have happened anyway, you were going to do this anyway. This is better. Without you, I’ll be cooler, I’ll stand up again, I’ll live on again. Were the things we had together just worthless enough to throw away? Don’t you even regret it? Don’t you care? Are you okay without me?”

Netizens rapidly brought up the past and commented, “These are statements referring to Jaebum,” “They purposely wrote up the lyrics like that in order to create noise marketing,” “This is too forceful, don’t force it.”

When 2PM released their 1st full album ‘1:59pm’, netizens also said some of the songs referred to Jaebum, especially ‘Heartbeat’ and ‘Tired of Waiting’.

But the lyrics of ‘Without U’ is not the only thing that is getting the netizens fired up. Just as the song and music video were released, Jay Park posted a bulletin through his YouTube channel stating, “Khun’s rap part is fire. 2pm ‘Without You’ go check it out!”

To this, unhappy fans commented, “Take your words back Jay about 2PM/traitors. They’re nothing but trash,” “Please don’t mention 2pm anymore Jay…”, “The song is not worth listening to,” while other more supportive fans mentioned how proud they were of Jay for his support for 2PM.

Both 2PM and Jay Park are moving on. When Jay first opened his YouTube channel he stated on his profile that he wanted everyone to continue supporting 2PM. If he ever felt betrayed by his former group I don’t think he would have written anything about them, be it positive or negative.

Losing a member of a group that you love, especially in the way Jay was withdrawn, is very painful, but it looks like Jay Park has taken the forgive and forget road, maybe we should do the same.
