KARA’s We’re With You gets banned by KBS

Posted by Nez

KARA’s cheery World Cup song We’re With You is officially banned from being aired on KBS.

The song can not be used for any variety programs on KBS, which is currently the background music for SBS’s World Cup campaign page. Because of this, KBS decided to ban the song.

KBS said, “It’s one thing to use a hit song for an advertisement but to use that song and the ad at

same time when the song isn’t affiliated with the campaign creates effects of indirect advertising.

Those songs are banned.

Also, when a music video comes off as an advertisement, it doesn’t serve its real purpose. So music

videos are banned as well.”

We’re With You is used for SBS’s World Cup campaign and that looks like the song is being used to

advertise SBS’s campaign. It’s a known fact that KBS and MBC have been bickering with SBS after it

managed to secure exclusive rights to sporting events like the recent Winter Olympics and upcoming Fifa World Cup.

To put it simply, KBS is saying that the song is being used as a song for SBS’s campaign rather than the World Cup itself.

KBS added, “The World Cup is an interest among everyone but it’s not acceptable to use the song for two channels at the same time.”

I have to be honest, it is quite a dumb reason to ban a song. What a shame since it’s an adorable song. Oh well, it’s KBS afterall.
