Boys Over Flowers is coming to an end, and KBS decided to do a little memory test by having Goo Jun Pyo and Geum Jan Di kiss three times over the course of 25 minutes.
During the drama's running time, at the 20th, 28th and 61st minute, their "goodbye kisses" were shown repeatedly in order to "bring more emotion to the viewers."
There's a bunch of technical stuff, but I won't divulge into the details since no one really cares about that. What's interesting is that around 10,000 netizens voted on a poll with the title "Is there too much kissing in Boys Over Flowers?" and 57% said "So what?" while 43% said "There's too much." The 43% obviously comprised of lonely singles who weren't getting any.
Although Korea doesn't care much for barely-clothed singers dancing on stripper poles (although there have been some cases for censorship), we take a supposedly "conservative" view when it comes to public displays of affection. Honestly, that's a bunch of BS. The show has come under a lot of scrutiny for being "unrealistic". I'd say the closest thing they got to being realistic was the number of times the main couple kissed. Most teen dramas in the West do a lot more than kissing, BOF is quite tame compared to it. Some people have commented that it's not good for teenagers to watch, but do they honestly think that teenagers these days are that innocent? If they do, I have a red bridge in San Francisco for sale.
