The first reaction upon hearing the news on Saturday morning, May 23rd was shock and disbelief? “No way!… what?!”
But then the news was buzzing on the details of his suicide.
The former President of Korea, Roh Moo-hyun, known for his “clean” politics” had ended his life earlier in the morning by jumping off a steep rocky cliff near his home. The 62 year old left a suicide note letting his family and friends know that “it has been tough… I caused so much pain to many people…. I cannot read (books) anymore.”
Last month, Roh Moo-hyun was under investigation for corruption. His wife had allegedly accepted a bribe of about 1 million USD and his niece’s husband had accepted USD 1 million without the knowledge of the ex-leader.
So now what?
With a laundry list of entertainers, celebrities and now the political leaders taking their own lives to “save face”? what does this mean for the rest of the Korean population?
Take out with full credits.

I have been looking for someplace to pay my respects to Noh Moo-hyun. He became president while I was in Korea, your beautiful country; and I personally think that he did a lot of good during his time in office. Suicide is never the right choice, but nobody knows how clearly the man was thinking at the time. He was probably unable to see past his great fear for his family and their well-being. It is just extremely sad, and I hope that this kind, good person finds peace.
