Big Bang’s Hallelujah makes you go from crying to laughing

Posted by Nez

Viewers of the KBS drama IRIS go from tears to laughter while listening to Big Bang's Hallelujah OST.

On the episode that aired today, the character played by Lee Byung Hun gets shot while trying to keep his loved one safe and get revenge. Big Bang's upbeat rap song then played in this scene which made the viewers a bit confused. The other songs on the show such as Baek Ji Young's Don't Forget, Shin Seung Hoon's Love of IRIS, and Kim Tae Woo's Dreaming A Dream all share in common a sad tone and lyrics.

But it's a different story with Hallelujah. Viewers commented that it was out of place with the scene and it ruined the mood of the scene. Others said that whenever Hallelujah comes on, it seems like the drama turns into a music video and they can't see the relevance of the song to the show.

Because T.O.P. plays a big part in the drama, they must feel obligated to support his music as well but it seems like it's not helping to promote the song and the drama at all.

An example of an appropriate insert would be 2NE1's I Don't Care in episode 9 where Kim Tae Hee hums along to the song to reflect her feelings.
