Before you go any further, the article contains spoilers for Episode 13.
Actress Lee Min Jung finally made her entrance in KBS2TV Boys Before Flowers last night in her position as Goo Joon Pyo's soon-to-be fiance and also showed off her impressive taekwondo skills. In Episode 13 shown last night, Jandi goes to Macau to look for Joon Pyo. While sight-seeing through the streets of Macau, she meets with danger as a pickpocket eyes her and her money as an easy target. At this moment, Ha Jae Kyung (Lee Min Jung) who will be Jandi's future love rival, comes to her rescue. She witnesses the pickpocket committing the crime and tells him off. But the pickpocket whips out a knife seeing that he is busted but Jae Kyung eventually kicks his ass with some impressive taekwando skills.
Later on, Jandi and Jae Kyung chances upon a shop selling BBQ meat, with the latter showing some neat bargaining skills. As Jandi bids Jae Kyung farewell, she will never have realized that the person whom she has received help from would be her love rival.
Following this episode, many viewers commented, "Goo Joon Pyo's fiance is simply too charismatic. Why is Jandi so pitiful", "Ha Jae Kyung's command of English and Chinese is really amazing. And her taekwando skills when felling the pickpocket was so professional."
Ji Ho becomes Jandi's pillar of support in the absence of Joon Pyo. He tries to console her when doctors tells Jandi she can never swim again because of her injured shoulders.
In other developments, we finally found the identity of the mysterious fisherman who had paid the porridge shop a visit a few episodes back. The fisherman was back but this time the shop owner serves him the food he asked for without any hesitation. The mysterious fisherman was revealed to be Ji Ho's (Kim Hyun Joong) grandfather in a newspaper report with the man standing beside him, probably the father of the shop owner. So the shop owner's father must be a famous chef who once served Ji Ho's grandfather when he was a president.
On the ratings front, Boys Before Flowers obtained 31.5% for episode 13, maintaining top spot and its viewership base with no significant gain or loss. MBC East of Eden meanwhile obtained 23.8% with SBS Terroir at the bottom with 5.2%.
