Something is really Fishy with 2PM

Posted by Nez 0 comments

From K-pop Charts, Lee Hyori, Rain, and 2PM have been heating things up with their new singles.
But, if you look closely, on KBS Music Bank, this past weekend, 2PM broke the K-Charts with a number one, but they only won in album sales and lost in every other category.  Between 2PM and Rain, the “Beastly” 2PM beat him by 5000 points in album sales with a difference of about 3000 overall.  Also with “Sexy Queen” Lee Hyori, they won by 6000 points in album sales and 4000 overall.
If this is not enough, on Sunday’s SBS Inkigayo, Lee Hyori finally won her 3rd Mutizen which means something is going down with 2PM.  Because 2PM lost SBS Inkigayo, they couldn’t have had that much album sales.  How could anyone sell 6000 points worth of albums in less than one day?
Something’s fishy about 2PM.  What do you think?

Lee Hyori & Kim HyunJoong, “We don’t use Twitter”. Fans beware of fake celebrity Twitter accounts!

Posted by Nez 0 comments

There has been much interests amongst netizens whether the Twitter accounts for Lee Hyori and SS501 leader Kim HyunJoong is authentic. And it has been confirmed from the 2 that they do not use Twitter.
The account (ID: HyoriiLee) looked seemingly like an account set up by Mnet but it was confirmed that it is not authentic as confirmed by Mnet themselves. As for SS501 Kim HyunJoong’s case, DSP Media also confirms, “Kim HyunJoong has not Twitter.” So it is confirmed that the account (ID: SShyunjoong)is not authentic.
Meanwhile, recently talent Park GyeongRim also wrote on her Twitter, “To all my friends~There has been many cases of people impersonating as Korean celebrities on Twitter, I hope everyone will refrain from that.”

She added, “It has been confirmed that accounts for Ok TaecYeon and Jung JiHoon (Rain) are fake. I believed many international fans for these 2 are hurt from this.”
At the same time, a report has surfaced confirming that the recent Twitter account which seemingly looks like that of SM Entertainment (ID: smenttown) is fake. The account has over 6000 followers on Twitter. And what’s more is that the account has been releasing what seems like news of SM Entertainment singers.
There was this Tweet on 23rd April talking about BoA’s comeback confirmed in August. SM Entertainment confirms that the account is fake, and that the comeback news are not real, “We do not have an official Twitter account for our company. We hope that fans will not get misunderstood. We are currently requesting for the deletion of the account from Twitter.”

Mnet Media responds to Hyori’s plagiarism accusations

Posted by Nez 0 comments

Controversy surrounding plagiarism accusations from Lee Hyori’s fourth album has finally reached the ears of her company Mnet Media.

The Queen of K-pop was alleged to have plagiarized several songs without giving credit or compensation to the originals. The songs themselves were released in her long-awaited comeback album titled H-Logic.

She was building momentum in a short amount of time until she was slammed with plagiarism accusations for six out of the seven songs in her album, all of which were coincidentally(?) produced by Bahnus. Bahnus (real name: Lee Jae Young), the leader of the group Bahnus Vacuum, apparently gave 180 songs for Hyori to choose from.

Let’s roundup the Hyori plagiarism accusations, shall we?

Cookie Couture’s Boy, Bring it Back and Hyori’s Bring it Back, Lil Precious’ So Insane and Hyori’s I’m Back, Melanie Durrant’s Feel the Same and Hyori’s Feel the Same, Mikis Theodorakis’ The Train Leaves at Eight and Hyori’s Swing, Jason DeRulo’s How Did We Get and Hyori’s How Did We Get, Second Person’s and The Alphabet Song and Hyori’s Memory.

Stacy Maroske, a member of the girl group Cookie Couture, released a statement on zacktaylor.ca after finding out Hyori had plagiarized their song and has hired a lawyer to go after Hyori.

However, according to Mnet Media’s official statements, it looks like there has been a misunderstanding about the whole situation, similar to that of the guide version American artist Ke$ha’s recorded for SNSD’s Run Devil Run.

A representative of Mnet Media stated, “We were already aware that the guide version of the demo song was up on YouTube before the release of her 4th album. Bahnus had already made these songs 4 – 5 years ago and had sold them. However, the problem was, he then made recordings of the guide and distributed the demo CDs. Also, it is also said that the vocalists who recorded for the CD all possess a copy of it.”

“Bahnus has already secured the documents containing evidence for the recording time, the name of the vocalist, and even the daily records of the entered recording studio. Since YouTube and various portal sites possess copyright infringements, a request has come in to delete the leaked source. The leaked source has announced infringement of the copyright law by the composer.

The representative added, “During the sales of the 4th album, we have revealed this truth in the description of her song Swing. There is no need to receive a copyright approval because this ballad does not have a title and its author is anonymous.”

Although Mnet Media has made official statements defending Hyori, can the issue dissolve as quickly as it erupted?

Lee Hyori’s advice to junior singers, “Don’t go into acting so carelessly like I did”

Posted by Nez 0 comments

Lee Hyori, who is recently back with her 4th album ‘H-Logic’ reveals her strategy to differentiate from other singers and gives advice to junior singers.

Lee Hyori was featured for an interview on MBC Section TV Entertainment on 23rd April when she was introduced the singer who is both hardworking and beautiful. And when asked what she thinks the junior will learn from her, Lee Hyori picked her hardworking features despite the money and popularity she gets. And as for what she feels that the junior singers should not follow after her, “I hope they don’t go into drama carelessly like me.”

She explained, “I thought they should keep in mind that the image of a singer is very strong.” Lee Hyori attempted acting in drama ’4-leaves clover’ in 2005 but it was a disappointing production for her.

And about coming back in the same time period with top star Rain, Lee Hyori commented, “I’m not sure if we will harm each other in terms of album sales, but I feel that we are supporting each other.”

Lee Hyori’s Chitty Chitty is Banned

Posted by Nez 0 comments

It’s just not Lee Hyori’s day.

First the audio leaks, now, her music video, “Chitty Chitty Bang Bang”, gets banned from the government controlled broadcasting station, KBS because of “traffic violations.”

Isn’t that the same as why Rain’s music video, Love Story, got banned as well? This time, in the music video, Lee Hyori doesn’t put on her seat belt while driving a truck. Not only because of this was Hyori banned, but because she stopped in the middle of the road and danced on the road and on top of buses. Needless to say, KBS banned the music video and another track of hers, “Love Sign”. However, the other broadcasting stations are also getting into the act. MBC slapped a 15+ on Chitty Chitty Bang Bang and SBS gave it a 12+. Right now, Mnet Media, Lee Hyori’s entertainment company, will not change the music video for KBS and will live with the banning.

Tough love for the queen, Lee Hyori.

[RUMOR] Did Hyori Plagiarize?

Posted by Nez 0 comments

Is there a common element between Hyori's "How Did We Get" along with another artist's rendition of the song?

Upon the leaked release of Hyori's "How Did We Get," I immediately recognized the beat in Hyori's song being similar to that of Jason Derulo's song, "How Did We" featuring Auburn.

If anyone is familiar with Jason Derulo and recognizes the beat is similar to that of Hyori's "How Did We Get," then you might be able to notice that both artist have something in common.

Both songs are indeed the same in beat however, there are some differences in the English translation of Hyori's "How Did We Get."

Hyori's rendition of the lyrics can be found here and Jason Derulo's lyrics can be found here.

Also, here are the videos to each song:
It is uncertain that Hyori has plagiarized Jason Derulo's lyrics, however, do not jump to conclusions. Remember this is only a rumor also,

This is an opinion based editorial of the author and does not reflect the opinions of OMGKPOP.

Lee Hyori delays album release

Posted by Nez 0 comments

Last week, Korean sex icon Lee Hyori released her first track and music video for the song Swing. Now many fans have been itching for the release of her 4th album but it’s now been revealed that the release date has been pushed back yet again.

On the 7th, a rep said, “The 4th album scheduled to release on the 8th has been delayed to the 13th. The title track and music video will also be pushed back.”

For a long six months, Lee Hyori has been pushing back her album release date and it looks like she’s done it again. Luckily it’s not even being pushed back by a whole week.

So why did the release of her album get delayed once more? The rep explained that due to the naval ship tragedy and what with all the live music programs being on hold, they did not Lee Hyori to make her comeback during such a gloomy time.

Lee Hyori’s 4th album will hopefully be released on the 13th.
